A Contemplation on Vision

by Heavy Stars

/

about

A sampling of students writing stories on Braille typewriters and a cane scratching across the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired campus, accompanied by improvised synth.

Specifically these are memories I captured from my Sundays art/music/poetry sessions with elementary students. The students were enthusiastic story-tellers and poets and loved to Braille out their creations. The cane sounds come from the walk a student and I took once a week to take public transportation to their voice lessons.

This piece pays homage to the different ways people interact with and make sense of the world. This piece also honors visually impaired people's use of recording as a means of making memories; aural photographs if you will.
